New Patient Guide

Everything you need to know about your Kalm experience.

What to Expect

1. Consultation Day
On or before the day of your consultation, you will be invited to create a patient portal account. Later, you will be sent a link to your appointment, if necessary.

2. After Your Consultation
If medication was prescribed, the notes will be sent from your doctor and reconciled by the billing department before it is ordered to the pharmacy. This process may take up to 1-3 days before confirmed.

3. Pharmacy Processing
Once your medication is ordered, it is in the hands of a third-party pharmacy who will fulfill and ship your order. Usually, about 3–5 working days after we place your order, the pharmacy will send a confirmation number to reference. Tracking may still not be available at that point.

4. Shipping
The pharmacy requires 7–10 business days to process and ship each order.

5. Ongoing Communication
Now that you are a patient, you should use the patient portal for all communication. This includes logistics questions about shipping, refill requests, and everything else associated with your treatment. The messaging system on the portal is HIPAA compliant and protected for your privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just had my doctor's appointment, now what? ▾

After your consultation, if medication was prescribed, the notes will be sent from your doctor and reconciled by the billing department, before it is ordered to the pharmacy. This process may take 1–3 days before confirmed. We will send you notifications and confirmations of processing.

How long will my order take to ship? ▾

Once we submit your order to the pharmacy and the pharmacy begins processing, it may take 7–10 business days for them to compound the medication and send it to you. Pharmacy processing is the process of the medication being made for you and only the last day of this is overnight shipping. While it is in process, there will be no additional updates before it ships. We will send you tracking as soon as the information becomes available to us. Please do not reach out prior to 10 business days of receiving order in process confirmation asking about the status of your order.

I scheduled an appointment but it says pending or hasn't been confirmed ▾

If you scheduled an appointment, it is confirmed. Details and the link to join the meeting will be sent the night before your appointment.

I need help / I have a question ▾

Please send your questions via patient portal message only. Please allow 24 hours for any message to be responded to. Portal communication is available 7 days a week and all important messages will be responded to as quickly as possible. You should not text or email in an effort to get a response quicker. Patients should not be texting the pre-sale support line and emails may only be responded to via portal message.

How do I log in to the patient portal? ▾

If you have ALREADY REGISTERED your patient portal account by accepting the invitation to join and you have already logged in before, you can access the portal here: https://kalm.intakeq.com/portal

How do I request a refill? ▾

Submit your refill request simply by saying "request refill" in a message on the patient portal. You may do so two weeks before running out of medication. https://kalm.intakeq.com/portal

I paid for two months but only got one ▾

Many states require the pharmacy to only send one month of medication per shipment. In 2 weeks, just request another refill on the portal and your second month's supply will be on its way. This will not affect billing nor disrupt your care.

I received my shipment but I never got a tracking number ▾

Because we include overnight shipping for most orders, it is possible that our system only detects a tracking number is available after the shipment was already delivered. In this case, you may not receive the tracking information.

I messaged on the portal and did not get a response ▾

Can I change my dosage? ▾

Yes. Dosage adjustments are handled by your provider. Your billing plan has no bearing on what doctor may or may not prescribe and we will simply order whatever is your written prescription. Please request a dose change consultation to follow up with the doctor about your dose.

What happens during my consultation? ▾

Your consultation is a telehealth appointment with a licensed provider. They'll review your medical history, discuss your treatment goals, and determine if ketamine therapy is right for you. If appropriate, they'll prescribe medication and explain your treatment plan. The consultation is private, confidential, and conducted entirely online. Remember to be an advocate for yourself. If you have a specific dose in mind or have a question about the doctor's reasoning, ask them directly. No non-clinical staff has the authority to question the doctor's prescription or protocol. Only you as the patient hold that power.

I don't agree with what I was prescribed ▾

You must be an advocate for yourself. If you have a specific dose in mind or have a question about the doctor's reasoning, ask them directly. No non-clinical staff has the authority to question the doctor's prescription or protocol. Only you as the patient hold that power.

What pharmacy is my order being sent to and how do I reach them? ▾

We have a couple partner pharmacies with whom we have private accounts which cannot be accessed by the regular support staff you will reach if you call. For this reason, we ask patients not to reach out to the pharmacy directly. Those who do often receive wrong information and inadvertently delay their order. Simply message us on the portal if you need something and we will reach out to them on your behalf.

Can I refer a friend? ▾

Yes! Please send your referral's name, phone, and email to contact@kalmhealth.org and you will receive $20 in credit when they sign up and qualify for treatment!

I need to speak to someone on the phone ▾

Only licensed medical providers will speak to active patients on the phone. This will only be via scheduled consultation. We do not offer customer support via phone. You should message on the portal with any questions.

How do I schedule a follow-up consultation? ▾

We will alert you if/when a follow-up is required. When we do, we will send you a link to schedule via portal messages. Please let us know if you require more urgent medical assistance. You should not attempt to book an appointment through "bookings," "packages," or any previous links.

I don't see anything in "bookings" ▾

Please disregard this section of the portal as all pertinent information will be forwarded to you in a portal message.

How do I cancel my subscription? ▾

To cancel, send a message to contact@kalmhealth.org. Please note that any medication already ordered is non-refundable.

What is your cancellation policy? ▾

Cancellation requests to recurring subscriptions must be made in writing to contact@kalmhealth.org at least 30 days prior to the next bill date.

What is your refund policy? ▾

At any point after an order request and before a prescription is issued, you may cancel and receive a refund. After a prescription is issued, your membership is considered active and there can be no refunds for medications which have been ordered at the pharmacy. There are no refunds for early termination of pay-in-full options.

Why did I receive another intake form? ▾

If you received an email which says NEW PATIENTS ONLY, the next step is to complete your intake form — and you are not a new patient and you have already completed an intake form — you should not complete this intake form again. You will find that this message also says it is only necessary to complete this form once.

Peptide Therapy

Learn more about Selank Nasal Spray ▾

Selank is a synthetic peptide nasal spray that helps reduce anxiety and promote emotional balance. Originally developed in Russia, it’s been used clinically for over a decade. It works by supporting GABA and serotonin activity — the same calming systems in your brain — making it an excellent complement between ketamine sessions. Think of it as taking the edge off without the drowsiness or dependency of traditional anti-anxiety medications. Selank has a strong safety profile with no known dependency or withdrawal effects. It’s non-sedating and non-addictive, with side effects rare and typically limited to mild nasal irritation. Usage is simple: one spray in each nostril, 2–3 times daily. A single bottle typically lasts 1–2 months.

Learn more about Semax Nasal Spray ▾

Semax is a peptide nasal spray that supports focus, memory, and mental clarity. Like Selank, it was developed in Russia and has been used clinically for cognitive and neurological conditions. If depression has left you feeling foggy or mentally sluggish, Semax targets exactly that — it supports your brain’s ability to form new neural connections (neuroplasticity), helping you think more clearly as you heal. Semax is well-tolerated, non-addictive, and non-sedating. Some patients notice a mild stimulating effect similar to a cup of coffee. It does not interact negatively with ketamine therapy. Usage is the same as Selank: one spray per nostril, 2–3 times daily. A bottle lasts 1–2 months. Some patients use Selank and Semax together — one for calm, one for clarity.

Learn more about NAD+ Nasal Spray ▾

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a molecule your body naturally produces that’s essential for cellular energy and brain function. As we age or experience chronic stress, NAD+ levels drop — contributing to fatigue, brain fog, and slower recovery. Your brain consumes more energy than any other organ, and when NAD+ levels are low, brain cells can’t repair themselves efficiently. Supplementing NAD+ supports the cellular repair processes that ketamine activates, helping your brain heal faster and maintain improvements between sessions. Since NAD+ occurs naturally in your body, side effects are uncommon — some patients notice a slight tingling or warmth after use. NAD+ IV therapy has been used safely in clinics for years; the nasal spray is simply a more convenient delivery method. Usage is 3–5 sprays daily, split across morning and afternoon. A 25ml bottle lasts approximately 2–3 months.

Learn more about DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) ▾

DSIP is a naturally occurring peptide in your brain that regulates deep, restorative sleep. If depression has disrupted your sleep — whether you can’t fall asleep, can’t stay asleep, or wake up feeling exhausted — DSIP helps your body access the deep sleep stages where real recovery happens. This matters because ketamine promotes neuroplasticity — your brain literally rewiring itself — and that rewiring happens primarily during deep sleep. Better sleep means better treatment outcomes. DSIP has been studied since the 1970s and is non-habit-forming — unlike sleep medications like Ambien or benzodiazepines, it works with your body’s natural sleep mechanisms rather than overriding them. DSIP is a small subcutaneous injection (similar to an insulin shot) taken 30–60 minutes before bed, typically 5 nights on and 2 nights off. If you’ve never done an injection at home, don’t worry — it’s a tiny needle just under the skin that most patients say they barely feel. It’s the same type of injection used for common medications like insulin and weight-loss peptides. A single vial lasts 3–7 weeks depending on your prescribed dose.

Learn more about Epithalon ▾

Epithalon is a peptide that supports your body’s internal clock and cellular renewal. It works by activating telomerase — an enzyme that protects your DNA as cells divide. For mental health patients, its primary benefit is resetting disrupted circadian rhythms (your sleep-wake cycle) and supporting long-term brain health. Chronic depression and stress accelerate cellular aging and disrupt your circadian rhythm — Epithalon helps reverse both. It has been studied extensively and has a clean safety profile with no significant reported side effects. Unlike the other peptides listed here, Epithalon is used in short cycles — typically 10–20 days of small daily subcutaneous injections, then a 4–6 month break before repeating. Think of it as a periodic reset rather than a daily supplement. Your provider will prescribe the appropriate cycle length and timing.

What are peptides? ▾

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks your body uses to make proteins. Many peptides occur naturally in your body. The ones we prescribe are lab-synthesized versions of these natural compounds, designed to support specific functions like sleep, cognition, or stress resilience. They are pharmaceutical-grade, compounded by licensed pharmacies with verified potency and purity — unlike unregulated over-the-counter “peptide supplements” that may contain little to no active ingredient. Each peptide complements ketamine therapy by addressing related symptoms like anxiety, brain fog, poor sleep, or cellular fatigue. Your provider will review your full treatment plan to ensure everything works together safely.

Are peptides FDA-approved? ▾

Most therapeutic peptides are prescribed as compounded medications, similar to how your ketamine is compounded. They’re prepared by licensed 503A or 503B compounding pharmacies under strict quality standards. While individual peptides may not have standalone FDA approval, they are legally prescribed and dispensed through regulated pharmacies.

Can I use peptides alongside my ketamine treatment? ▾

Yes — that’s exactly how they’re designed to be used in our practice. Each peptide complements ketamine therapy by addressing related symptoms like anxiety, brain fog, poor sleep, or cellular fatigue. Your provider will review your full treatment plan to ensure everything works together safely.

How are these different from supplements I can buy online? ▾

The peptides we prescribe are pharmaceutical-grade, compounded by licensed pharmacies with verified potency and purity. Over-the-counter “peptide supplements” are largely unregulated and may contain little to no active ingredient. Ours require a prescription because they’re real medications with real clinical effects.
